Navigating Medicare Coverage Changes, Together
20 years of helping simplify health coverage.
Medicare premiums and plan details can change from year to year. Rising health care costs, inflation, and policy changes can all affect what plans cost and how they work. That’s why it’s a good idea to review your coverage each fall.
What to do before October 15
Update your Profile
Your Profile powers Coverage Checkup, our comprehensive coverage recommendation tool. To learn more about creating or updating your Profile, read Create Your Profile on the Website.
Watch for your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC)
An ANOC is the letter your Medicare Advantage or Part D plan sends each fall to explain what’s changing for next year, including costs, benefits, coverage rules, or service area changes. Give it a careful read so you can decide whether your current plan still fits your needs. One quick note: If you have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, you typically won’t get an ANOC letter.
Plan termination notice
If your current plan won’t be offered next year, your carrier will send you a notice. Don’t worry, Via Benefits can help you explore new options that fit your needs.
Schedule an appointment with a licensed benefit advisor
If there are changes to your plan and you want to discuss your options with a licensed benefit advisor, schedule a one-on-one appointment for when Open Enrollment begins. To learn more, read Scheduling an Appointment.
What to do during Open Enrollment, October 15 through December 7
Sign in to Via Benefits. Your Coverage Checkup results will be ready to review. This personalized tool compares your current plan with available options for 2027 and is based on the information in your Profile.
If you’ve scheduled an appointment, try to call as close to your appointment time as possible
Check out Tips for a Smoother Via Benefits Phone Call for ways to make your call easier.
Don’t have an appointment but still want to talk with a licensed benefit advisor? That’s okay. Once Open Enrollment begins, you can call and get help comparing plan options based on your health needs and budget.
You don’t have to figure it out alone
Some years bring more plan changes than others, but you don’t have to sort through them by yourself. Via Benefits can help you understand what changed, what it means for your coverage, and what to do next.
