Medicare Part D Catastrophic Drug Coverage

Starting in 2024, Medicare Part D enrollees will no longer be required to pay 5% coinsurance or copays when they reach the catastrophic phase. This means their out-of-pocket expenses will be capped once their spending reaches the catastrophic threshold.

According to research by the Kaiser Family Foundation, the maximum out-of-pocket costs for Part D enrollees who only use brand-name drugs in 2024 will be around $3,300.
